More about the Quadrant Map

Your congregational report will include a Quadrant Map showing how all 44 Spirit Map items relate to one another, in terms of the average presence and importance ratings congregants give each item. Each numbered point on the map corresponds to a Spirit Map item so that you can see the nuanced interplay of all 44 Spirit Map items. Your congregation’s journey through its Quadrant Map starts at the center of the red crosshairs. This is where your congregation’s average presence rating meets your congregation’s average importance rating. If you travel:

• North: you find higher average importance
• South: you find lower average importance
• East: you find higher average presence
• West: you find lower average presence

We focus your congregation’s journey on two quadrants that provide a particularly rich basis for self-discovery and reflection:

• Greater Strength (note how your congregation’s Signature Strengths have diamonds around them). These are the items that are, on average, more true of your congregants and relatively more important in their spiritual lives.
• Greater Opportunity (note how your congregation’s Key Opportunities have circles around them). These are the items that are, on average, relatively more important in your congregants’ spiritual lives, but less true of them.

As you investigate which items are in these quadrants and how they relate to each other, whether you do this work independently or with the help of a spiritual advisor, consider what they might mean for your congregation’s spiritual life and spiritual growth.  How could your congregation’s strengths become the foundation on which you build an ever-deepening spiritual life? What might it mean if your congregation’s opportunities were more true of you? How could your strengths and opportunities work together toward your goals?
